Vietnam Airlines signs MOU for five A350-900 jets

Vietnam Airlines announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Airbus to acquire five A350-900 aircraft. The carrier confirmed the deal during a press statement on Friday, noting that deliveries are planned for 2033 and 2034. The specific value of the transaction was not disclosed in the official release.
The airline stated that securing thirty widebody aircraft beyond 2030 remains a strategic priority for its fleet development strategy. Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus executive vice president of sales for commercial aircraft, highlighted the planes' long-haul capabilities and operational efficiency as key benefits for Vietnam's expansion of its international network.
This agreement occurred alongside other bilateral deals signed during Vietnamese leader To Lam's recent visit to Paris for the International Space Summit. Other contracts included a letter of intent with Vietravel Airlines for twenty A220 and thirty A321 aircraft, expected to begin delivery in 2029. French President Emmanuel Macron noted that France was also close to finalizing a deal for three NH90 helicopters.
