US Equity Funds Sold $32.27 billion in Largest Week Since December 2025

Global equity outflows reached a peak last week as investors exited US markets amid inflation fears and rising oil prices.

American equity funds recorded their largest selling wave since December 2025, with investors withdrawing $32.27 billion during the week ending September 9. Data from LS&GI Liquidity showed global funds posted net outflows of $15.52 billion that same period, marking the biggest capital exit in 18 months. The surge was driven by sharp liquidation activity within US markets, which offset inflows into European ($11.16 billion) and Asian ($3.03 billion) funds according to Reuters. Brent crude oil hit a four-month high of $109.97 per barrel on Friday after breaching the $100 barrier three days prior. These price levels intensified inflation concerns and prompted major central banks to consider raising interest rates further.
