Itaú BBA estimates Argentina mining exports could reach $35 billion by 2035
A new calculation from Itaú BBA projects Argentina's mining sector exporting $35 billion by 2035. The bank suggests this growth is driven by domestic incentives and rising global demand for copper and lithium.
Itaú BBA estimates that Argentina could export approximately $35 billion in mining products by 2035, according to a new internal calculation. This volume would position mining as the nation's third largest export industry after agriculture and energy. For context, total Argentine exports are expected to reach around $100 billion in 2026, while local government projections indicate energy exports could hit roughly $50 billion by the same year. The bank attributes this potential growth to converging domestic and international factors. Domestically, analysts cite the Regime de Incentivo para Grandes Investimentos (RIGI) as a primary driver. This framework is said to improve long-term mining investment conditions through lower corporate tax rates of 25% and up to 30 years of regulatory stability. On the international side, Itaú BBA believes sustained global demand for copper and lithium will support investment increases in the sector.
