Russia to dispatch energy and foreign ministry officials to Houston G20 meeting
A Russian delegation comprising representatives from the energy, foreign, and natural resources ministries will attend the G20 energy summit in Houston next week.
Marat Berdyev, the Russian ambassador overseeing G20-related issues, confirmed on Saturday that a delegation including officials from Russia's energy, foreign, and natural resources ministries will participate in the group of 20 meeting in Houston. The summit runs from September 14 to 16 under US presidential leadership. This announcement follows earlier diplomatic engagement where Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov visited North Carolina for an early September G20 session. President Donald Trump has recently deployed envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner to Moscow and Kyiv to negotiate a halt to the conflict in Ukraine, which began with Russia's full-scale offensive in 2022. While Washington aims to resolve the stalemate, the initial plan presented by the US administration faced criticism from Kyiv and European allies for not addressing their specific demands. The Group of 20 consists of 19 nations plus the EU and the African Union, originally formed to address global economic instability following the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis.
