IMF Forecasts 3% Global Growth in 2026 Amid High Risks

The International Monetary Fund predicts global output will expand by approximately 3 percent in 2026, despite elevated oil prices and high economic risks.

The International Monetary Fund states the global economy has expanded by about 3 percent in 2026. IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack noted the world weathered the energy shock better than feared. Oil and gas prices remain elevated, and the war's impact on energy supply is not over. Global debt pressures are mounting, and the process to reduce inflation has stalled. Inflation expectations have risen but stay anchored long-term. The organization forecasts sluggish growth at 3 percent for next year. This figure compares against an average of 3.5 percent in 2024 and 2025. Previous April projections reached 3.1 percent, assuming the conflict would end mid-July. Current military activity in Yemen contradicts that earlier assumption. Some nations coped by using reserves or shifting energy sources to curb demand.
