Madrid holiday rents surge to €20,000 near Formula 1 circuit

The Spanish Grand Prix is driving accommodation prices in Madrid to record heights, with listings for the race weekend reaching €20,000.

Owners and investors are pushing short-term rental costs to unprecedented levels ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix scheduled for September 11 to 13. Near the Madring circuit, properties now command rates up to €20,000 for brief stays, a stark contrast to the typical monthly rent of around €2,500 in the same neighborhood. Luxury listings near Ifema are also appearing on platforms like Airbnb, with one chalet advertised for €11,400 over four days for VIP groups. This pricing strategy exploits intense weekend demand concentrated on a single event. Mario Serrano, founder of Inmobiliaria Valdebebas, noted that some homeowners are personally residing in the properties while listing them for rent. Availability is becoming scarce, with certain owners explicitly restricting bookings to the race period.
