Oman signs $15.4 million mining deals with Emaar and Gulf Royal

Oman has finalized two agreements for mining exploration worth roughly $15.4 million, targeting nearly 1,700 square kilometers of land.

The Ministry of Energy and Minerals in Oman executed contracts with Emaar Mining Co. and Gulf Royal Minerals and Energy Co. on September 30. These partnerships cover Concession Area 51-B, located in Ad Dakhiliyah and Al Wusta Governorates, alongside a second area totaling 1,687 square kilometers. Total exploration investment reaches approximately $15.4 million, paid in 6 million Omani rials. The Ministry reported that these ventures support broader economic diversification strategies. Prior actions included offering eight different concession areas for a combined 8,748 square kilometers in September. Potential deposits include copper, gold, silver, and chromite. Additionally, the Shuwaymiyah minerals project aims to produce 40 million tonnes of limestone, gypsum, and dolomite annually.
