ADX Energy applies for third Sicily Channel gas permit covering 517km2
ADX Energy seeks to expand its offshore exploration in the Sicily Channel with a new 517km2 application following two previous permits. Meanwhile, American Tungsten & Antimony began maiden drilling at its Dutch Mountain project with high-grade tungsten chips.
ADX Energy filed an application for a third offshore exploration permit in the Sicily Channel covering 517 square kilometres. This submission adds to existing and recently applied acreage totaling 1650 square kilometres. An independent technical review by RISC Advisory confirmed the Miocene-aged Terravecchia Formation as a valid biogenic gas play. The company targets stacked gas reservoirs in shallow-water settings using historical seismic and well data. Offset wells frequently displayed elevated mud gas shows during drilling. American Tungsten & Antimony began maiden drilling at its Dutch Mountain project in Tooele County, Utah. Phase 1 consists of 11 holes totaling about 1000 metres to test the Fraction Lode trend between depths of 60 and 100 metres. Chief executive Casper Adson stated rock chips returned up to 1.48 percent WO3. These results mapped to intrusive contacts rather than discrete historical workings, identifying ten priority targets for follow-up drilling. Three separate trends were defined, with the longest spanning approximately 700 metres.
