US tech giants issue record €27 billion in European bonds on single day

American companies including Amazon and Uber issued massive debt amounts in Europe this week, creating new records for US bond issuance volume.

A record number of American corporations issued debt in European markets this past Thursday. Companies such as Amazon concluded their first issue in British pounds while Uber finished its debut in euros. Four other US firms also conducted similar operations that day. According to Bloomberg data, this represents the largest single-day volume of US issuers in Europe recorded ever. The total amount issued by US companies in the region reached €27 billion this week alone. This surge occurred because European markets offered favorable liquidity conditions while domestic US financing became strained by massive borrowing needs linked to artificial intelligence investments. A wave of issuance from technology hypsclalers has crowded out other issuers and contributed to higher yields on Treasury bonds.
