Brazil's US exports fell 9.7% to $24.1 billion in first eight months of 2026
Trade data shows a significant decline in Brazilian sales to the United States driven by tariff policies. Total bilateral trade volume also shrank by $5.2 billion.
Brazilian exports to the United States totaled $24.1 billion from January through August 2026, marking a 9.7% decrease compared to the same period last year. This figure represents the lowest value for Brazilian sales to the North American market since 2023, a drop of approximately $2.6 billion in total revenue. Abrão Neto, president of Amcham Brasil, attributed the contraction to aggressive American tariff policies affecting the commercial relationship this year. According to the Monitor do Comércio Brasil–EUA report by Amcham Brasil using Comexstat data, both economies recorded losses with total bilateral trade falling $5.2 billion compared to the previous year. While August exports grew 12.1% in value versus July 2025, physical export volumes dropped 17.3%, reaching the lowest level for an August month since 2021.
