Brazil M&A market mobilizes R$ 210.7 billion in August 2026 despite operational drop
Fusion and acquisition activity in Brazil reached R$ 210.7 billion by late August 2026 according to TTR Data, marking an 11% increase in capital mobilized even as transaction volume fell 31% compared to the same period last year.
The Brazilian merger and acquisition market recorded 834 transactions through August 2026, totaling R$ 210.7 billion in value moved, according to a report from TTR Data. Despite a 31% decline in the number of operations compared to August 2025, capital mobilized rose by 11%. TTR Data noted that 43% of transactions had disclosed values while 77% were already concluded. In August alone, 57 completed or announced deals valued R$ 12.6 billion. The Internet, Software & IT Services sector led in transaction volume with 140 deals, followed closely by Real Estate with 131. Foreign investment was driven by the United States, which accounted for 87 acquisitions, despite a reported 23% drop in American-owned entities acquiring Brazilian companies. Private equity accounted for 56 transactions worth R$ 34.5 billion, venture capital saw 134 rounds totaling R$ 8.0 billion with a 46% drop in deal count, and asset acquisitions comprised 205 deals valued at R$ 37.9 billion. The highlighted transaction for August was the sale of CPC by Motiva to ASUR for R$ 5.1 billion.
