The outage impacted airports on Tuesday and continued into Wednesday, causing hundreds of thousands of passengers to face delays. Martin Rolfe, the chief executive of Nats, stated he has been granted a week to report back on the technical failure. Daniel Garrick, 32, described the scene at Heathrow as absolute chaos after waiting seven hours on the tarmac. He reported that baggage reclaim was in complete disarray with screens displaying messages that baggage areas were closed. Some passengers spent the night sleeping on airport floors while staff searched for missing luggage.
