inDrive Absorbs Uber Drivers and Passengers in Nigeria

inDrive Nigeria aims to capture the market space vacated by Uber following the company's decision to exit the ride-hailing sector. Timothy Oladimeji, country director for inDrive Nigeria, confirmed the firm is prepared to absorb drivers, investors, and passengers affected by the departure. He expressed surprise at Uber's exit but viewed the situation as an opportunity to solidify inDrive's position in one of its most critical African markets. The company operates in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Benin City, Ibadan, Owerri, and Enugu. Unlike standard platforms where algorithms set fares, inDrive utilizes a model allowing direct negotiation between drivers and passengers to determine final pricing. The firm highlighted that this approach offers lower service fees compared to conventional competitors. Oladimeji emphasized affordability remains vital for emerging markets like Nigeria.
