On this Monday, thirteen retired Brazilian ministers of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) signed a letter addressed to President Edson Fachin. The signatories requested an urgent convocation of a public session. They asked the full court to determine an immediate and rigorous inquiry into specific facts affecting the tribunal. The letter does not directly name retiring justices André Mendonça or Alexandre de Moraes. These retired ex-magistrates described the current situation as the most acute crisis in the history of the Supreme Court. They stated that published events are damaging the court's prestige and authority. They argued these incidents also threaten public trust and democratic institutional stability. While expressing confidence in Fachin to lead the tribunal, they insisted on a due legal process for the investigation.
