Ondo Finance seeks $8 billion in US stock perpetual volume, urges SEC and CFTC to authorize onshore trading
Ondo Finance wants regulators to allow it to trade US stock-permanent futures within the United States. The company highlights an existing offshore operation with $8 billion in cumulative volume.
Ondo Finance has formally requested that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) permit trading of perpetual futures linked to individual US stocks within the United States. In August, Ondo submitted comments stating its products already function under existing security futures frameworks without needing new regulations. The company emphasized that scheduled funding payments align perpetual contracts with underlying stock prices, eliminating the need for fixed expiration dates common in traditional futures. Currently, Ondo's Panama-based affiliate offers stablecoin-settled perpetual futures on US-listed stocks outside the country, recording $8 billion in cumulative trading volume as of August 14. This activity occurred roughly six weeks after the platform launched. Ondo ranks fourth among tokenized real-world asset managers by distributed value. The company asserts that moving this activity back to the US is not an open question and should be actively pursued by both regulatory agencies.
