Benmara Station sells for $26 million after carbon project fails
UK producer Shaun Davis has purchased Benmara Station in the Northern Territory for $26 million, a price $14 million lower than its 2023 sale value.
Benmara Station in the Barkly region of the Northern Territory settled on September 2 at a sale price of $26 million. The transaction marked a significant change from the previous arrangement with WealthCheck and partner Hartree, which had planned to operate a large carbon project on the property that ultimately did not occur. Located approximately 100 kilometres west of the Queensland border, the 450,000-hectare land had been largely destocked over the past 18 months before the recent deal. Previous buyer Sam Mitchell acquired the asset in 2023 for $40 million bare without cattle. The new ownership belongs to UK-based livestock producer Shaun Davis, who trades the property under the name Benmara Land Holdings. The sale price is $14 million less than the record set in 2023.
