Octopus Appoints Wonderful to Transform Payments with AI Sandbox Program

Octopus Cards Limited engaged Wonderful on August 27, 2026, to advance its artificial intelligence transformation. The agreement focuses on enhancing user experience and supporting smart commerce under Hong Kong's Smart City Vision. Both companies will participate in the Generative Artificial Intelligence Sandbox++, a risk-controlled environment jointly launched by four financial regulators: the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Securities and Futures Commission, the Insurance Authority, and the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority, alongside Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited. Under this arrangement, Wonderful will utilize its enterprise AI Operating System with Octopus to explore applications in agentic commerce and intelligent support. The project aims to deliver seamless, personalized digital services across Octopus's ecosystem serving over 36 million cardholders.
