Italy salary transparency rates jump to 61% in July
Italy now has the highest percentage of job advertisements listing salaries among the five largest European economies, up significantly from late last year.
Italy is the only major European economy to have implemented the EU Pay Transparency Directive. Consequently, the share of job postings including salary information rose from 26% in July 2025 to 61% in July this year. Pawel Adrjan, director of economic research at Indeed, stated that Italy is emerging as a frontrunner on pay transparency among large economies and that regulation is making a real difference. Global hiring platform Indeed noted this rise among the five largest European economies. Most other EU countries have failed to meet the June 7 implementation deadline. This lack of information in other regions may contribute to pay discrimination and widen the gender pay gap, according to the European Commission.
