Hong Kong insurance company Prudential announced a partnership with Alibaba Cloud. The deal focuses on developing artificial intelligence (AI) underwriting technology. This system will allow financial consultants to make preliminary risk decisions quickly. Consultants can now use client data, including medical records and residence details, to generate results in minutes. Previously, such evaluations took days. Prudential CEO Lawrence Lam stated the AI tool helps identify specific client needs faster. The move follows tighter cross-border tax regulations in Beijing. Insurers like BOC Life and Manulife are also forming alliances to improve operational efficiency. Manulife has previously signed a strategic agreement with Alibaba Cloud for similar technology enhancements. Industry leaders note that firms best utilizing AI will gain a competitive edge.
