Alibaba launches AI tool deploying digital workers into rival enterprise platforms

Alibaba Cloud launched a new artificial intelligence tool called QoderWake on Tuesday. This update allows users to generate fully functional digital workers using only a single-line description of a role. These AI agents can operate within three major Chinese workplace communication platforms: DingTalk, Feishu, and WeCom. Alibaba stated the digital employees can absorb context from shared documents, calendars, and group chats without needing additional training.

The tool includes ten ready-to-use roles such as product manager, data analyst, designer, and developer. These functions were fine-tuned using data from top industry teams to perform real-world enterprise tasks immediately. Since its initial release in April, QoderWake has deployed nearly 100,000 digital employees. Over the past three months, these entities executed approximately 2 million tasks across various enterprise scenarios.

This launch signals a shift in how major Chinese tech companies approach competing workspaces. Instead of relying solely on exclusive ecosystems, Alibaba is integrating rival products like ByteDance's Feishu and Tencent's WeCom into its AI applications. Domestic tech giants are increasingly pivoting expensive AI models toward business-facing applications that can execute complex workflows autonomously.
