Speaking after a meeting with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin in Dublin, Trump indicated both Washington and Ottawa are interested in reaching terms. He emphasized that Canadian authorities must stop taxing American farmers if they wish to finalize a deal. The President argued that current tariffs on US agriculture are unfair and should be removed immediately. "Canada is very interested in closing an agreement," he said. He added that the two nations need to work out specific details regarding agricultural exports before any pact becomes official. Trump reiterated that Canadians cannot continue levying duties on American produce. The announcement follows ongoing disputes over trade barriers affecting North American agriculture and energy sectors.
