Two major financial backers of the Republican Party, President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, have announced plans to spend tens of millions of dollars on TV advertising for midterm legislative elections in November 2026. Trump stated he intends to allocate between US$400 million and US$500 million to support Republicans. The Republican Party faces the risk of losing control over at least one chamber of Congress. Research indicates Democratic voters are increasingly motivated to vote. Trump's political action committee, 'No Going Back,' has already purchased more than US$24.9 million in advertising time across six battleground states: Alaska, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, and Ohio. Additionally, Musk's PAC known as 'Musk's America PAC' and Trump's fundraising arm, MAGA Inc., have recently contributed US$2.4 million and US$10 million respectively to the political arena.
