Russia's Rosneft Commences Vostok Oil Project Operations and Methanol Factory Approval

Russian President Vladimir Putin officially launched the Vostok Oil project located at Sever Bay, a move described as opening access to a new strategic oil region for Russia's industry and exports. The launch ceremony involved the delivery of the first batch of crude oil through the main pipeline to the Sever Bay station on the coast of the Arctic Ocean. At this station, Russian state-owned company Rosneft began loading the first shipment onto the ice-class tanker 'Valentin Pikul'. President Putin characterized the start of operations for this project as a significant step in developing a new global-scale oil and gas field. He emphasized that the pipeline operation and the arrival of oil at the polar station represent a critical phase in executing the overall Vostok Oil project. In a separate development, Saudi Aramco received formal approval to assign liquefied natural gas (LNG) capacity to a new methanol factory facility. This company plans to utilize the allocated LNG infrastructure to operate the plant with an annual production capacity of 1.8 million tonnes.
