Nigerian Exchange assesses 17 companies under N-Zero climate initiative
The Nigerian Exchange Group has formally onboarded 17 companies to its N-Zero initiative, moving beyond general ambition to measurable climate action through baseline assessments.
The Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) began corporate climate baseline assessments on Monday, marking a shift from vague climate goals to concrete data collection for Nigeria's businesses. The initiative partners with DEG Impulse gGmbH and Africa Foresight Group to help participating firms strengthen climate readiness and develop net-zero pathways. The assessment evaluates specific areas including risk management, emissions measurement, transition planning, and access to carbon markets. It establishes a baseline for each organization to identify priority gaps requiring tailored support. More than 100 companies received baseline surveys since the program launched in January, though only 17 are currently formally onboarded as community members. Current participants include Access Holdings, Dangote Cement, United Bank for Africa, Stanbic IBTC Holdings, First HoldCo, Fidelity Bank, Zenith Bank, and Wema Bank.
