Nigeria's Q2 Exports Surge to N27.02 Trillion as Trade Surplus Expands

Trade surplus reaches N12.59 trillion driven by crude oil exports valued at N12.914 trillion in the second quarter of 2026.

Nigeria's trade surplus widened significantly in the second quarter of 2026, reaching N12.59 trillion according to National Bureau of Statistics data. Total exports totaled N27.02 trillion, which included a 27.64 per cent quarter-on-quarter jump compared to imports that increased only 5.91 per cent. Crude oil remained the dominant exported commodity in this period, valued at N12.914 trillion and accounting for 47.79 per cent of all exports. Non-crude oil exports reached N14.106 trillion, making up the remaining 52.21 per cent of the total export value. Mineral products comprised N23.519 trillion, or 87.04 per cent of total exports, while chemical industry products contributed N2.138 trillion and vegetable products added N516.70 billion. India, Spain, and the Netherlands led as top export destinations for Nigeria in this quarter.
