Turkey to drill oil well in western Black Sea soon, exports hit record $82.4 billion in August
Turkiye Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced plans for immediate drilling in the western Black Sea, while Taiwan's exports surged 41% to a monthly high of $82.4 billion.
Turkey plans to begin drilling an oil-focused well in the western Black Sea soon, according to Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar on Wednesday. The minister described the operation as challenging and noted it will take time to complete. This action follows Turkey's previous statement regarding six exploration wells across the western, central, and eastern Black Sea for 2026.
Simultaneously, Taiwan reported that exports reached a monthly record in August, rising 41% year-over-year to $82.4 billion. The figure exceeded analyst expectations of a 35.3% increase. This marks the thirty-fourth consecutive month of growth for Taiwan's exports compared to the previous year. Exports to the United States increased by 20.7% to $23.667 billion, while shipments to China jumped 39.3%. Officials cite sustained demand for artificial intelligence as a primary driver despite global inflation concerns and rising energy costs linked to ongoing conflicts.
