Munich startup Zeit AI raises €4.3 million for autonomous data engineering platform

Zeit AI secured funding from Y Combinator, Hasso Plattner VC, and former German Finance Minister Christian Lindner to deploy its ZeitMind AI system in European mid-market companies.

Zeitung AI, a Munich-based startup, announced the closure of a €4.3 million funding round today. The capital infusion supports the development of an autonomous data engineering solution tailored for Europe's industrial sector. Leading investors include Y Combinator, the University of Oxford's Seed Fund, Sequoia Capital Scout Fund, ACE Ventures, and Hasso Plattner VC. Former German Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner participated alongside other notable angel investors, including former World Cup winner Mario Götze and Meta board member Charlie Songhurst. Founded in 2024 by Palantir alumni Leopold von Waldthausen and Marvin Bornstein, the firm focuses on the European mid-market. Its product, ZeitMind, integrates with ERP, CRM, and over 600 source systems. The system utilizes an AI agent to construct analytics-ready applications from disparate data sources while operating within German data centers. Founder Jens Schmidt-Sceery stated that industrial bases cannot outsource core operational decisions, emphasizing the company's role in providing sovereign infrastructure rather than a compromise. Although European mid-sized firms own their data, they currently lack the capability to fully leverage it, often resorting to Excel workarounds.
