Lula Approval Hits 43%, Opposition Stands at 50% in Latest Poll

A research firm known as Quaest released new polling data on Monday, revealing a shift in public opinion regarding the Brazilian government. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's approval rating fell to 43 percent from 45 percent recorded earlier this month. Conversely, disapproval of his administration increased to 50 percent, up from 48 percent. This seven-point gap between supporters and detractors marks a notable change compared to the three-point difference seen in the previous survey released on September 2. Lula's approval remains stable at 36 percent, while Flávio Bolsonaro sits lower at 29 percent in first-turn voting. However, in a hypothetical second-round matchup, both candidates stand equally with 41 percent each. The study also noted higher disapproval figures for other contenders, including Pablo Marçal at 45 percent and Ronaldo Caiado at 41 percent. Analysts caution that the two-point variations fall within the study's margin of error, meaning these shifts do not confirm a solidified trend in public sentiment.
