Governor Siminalayi Fubara signed the Rivers State 2026 Appropriation Bill into law during a ceremony at Government House on Thursday. The legislation allocates N1.854 trillion to the state for the upcoming fiscal year. A Government House statement attributed this signing to Chief Press Secretary Onwuka Nzeshi. Fubara described the approval as a breath of fresh air and a sign of healthy relationships between the executive branch and the State House of Assembly. The budget had faced scrutiny because the governor presented it to the legislature more than a month prior without subsequent progress. Fubara thanked God, stakeholders, and the lawmakers for their speed in addressing the situation. He reaffirmed the administration's commitment to the Rivers First mantra and pledged that the budget would focus on people's welfare.
