First Table raises $10 million to expand restaurant app across Australia and New Zealand

First Table secured $10 million in new funding to broaden its discount-based dining service in major Australian cities.

Australian startup First Table raised $10 million in a funding round during the past week. The company helps restaurants offer discounts for diners booking tables during off-peak hours, aiming to monetize empty seating capacity. CEO Alex Cappy stated the capital will support deeper expansion in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. First Table is currently operational in 22 Australian cities. Founders Mat Weir and Alex Cappy led the new round alongside existing investors including Altered Capital, Invest South, Mainland Angels, and shareholders from Snowball Effect. New participants in the deal include K1W1 and Icehouse Ventures. The business targets constrained consumer spending by encouraging visits to quieter dining times.
