He argued the restructuring creates clearer ownership and faster decision-making. The company intends to redirect savings toward innovation, expanding its driver and merchant workforce, growing core businesses, and developing autonomous vehicle technology. Financial analyst Danni Hewson noted Uber is competing against Alphabet-owned Waymo and Tesla in the robotaxi sector while facing intense food delivery competition. Despite the reported 34,000 total employees at year-end 2025, Uber refused to disclose specific headcount figures for European offices or which nations face layoffs when requested by Euronews.
