Academy Sports Reports 3.0% Sales Growth and $2.17 EPS

Academy Sports posted a 3.0% increase in net sales for the second quarter of fiscal 2026 while raising its earnings guidance.

Academy Sports and Outdoors, Inc. released financial results for the quarter ended August 1, 2026, reporting net sales of $1,647.3 million. This represents a 3.0% growth compared to the previous year's figure of $1,599.8 million. Comparable sales declined slightly by 0.4%. Electronic commerce sales rose by 12.8%, and the company opened three new stores in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. Diluted GAAP earnings per share reached $2.17, an increase of 17.3% year over year. Adjusted earnings per share were $2.31, up 19.1%. Steve Lawrence, Chief Executive Officer, stated that consumer spending remained pressured, particularly among lower-income households. He noted that the company is reinvesting tariff-related benefits into value and expanding new brands. The management team confirmed these actions are helping to gain market share. They also affirmed sales growth and raised earnings guidance for fiscal 2026.
