FDA triggers nationwide recall of Lipofit Extreme Fat Burner 2.0 due to undeclared DNP and fluoxetine

Ana Salazar Modela Tu Cuerpo Inc. is recalling its Lipofit Extreme Fat Burner 2.0 supplements after testing revealed hidden doses of the pesticide 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP) and the antidepressant fluoxetine.

Ana Salazar Modela Tu Cuerpo Inc., based in Florida, has issued a nationwide recall for its Lipofit Extreme Fat Burner 2.0 supplements. The Food and Drug Administration discovered that specific tablets contained undeclared ingredients. The daytime (AM) tablets held fluoxetine, a substance used to treat depression and bulimia. The nighttime (PM) tablets contained 2,4-dinitrophenol, known as DNP. This chemical is classified by regulators as toxic because it is legally sold only as a pesticide, herbicide, dye, or wood preservative. Neither ingredient is approved for use in weight-loss products. Consequently, these items are considered unapproved new drugs lacking proven safety and efficacy. Affected products carry lot number 25M12F and expire in September 2027. The FDA urged consumers to stop purchasing the items due to these toxic contents.
