Chris Rokos exits UK after paying £330m, opens Athens office

Chris Rokos has decided to relocate his operations from the United Kingdom to Greece. He will establish an office in Athens soon. Rokos was listed as the third highest individual taxpayer in Britain, having paid £330 million in taxes last year. Before leaving, he announced a donation of £190 million to Cambridge University. Representatives for Rokos declined to comment on his reasons for leaving or details of his new business activities. His representatives confirmed only that he plans to open an office in Athens. The BBC reports that Greece offers flat tax rates for certain wealthy foreign earners based on overseas income. UK Chancellor John Healey stated wealth creation is a priority and described the UK's system as competitive and stable. However, government borrowing costs have risen. Healey did not rule out increasing taxes in the upcoming October budget.
