Foreign Investors Deploy Rs 50,000 Crore Into Indian Consumption Sectors In Two Months

FIIs poured Rs 49,830 crore into India's consumer services, healthcare, and financial sectors in July and August. Domestic businesses emerged as the primary beneficiary of this renewed foreign capital flow.

Foreign institutional investors deployed a net Rs 49,830 crore across Indian equities during July and August, marking a decisive return to domestic markets. Consumer services attracted the largest share with Rs 18,618 crore in total inflows over the two-month period. Healthcare followed as the second-largest recipient at Rs 13,686 crore, while consumer durables drew Rs 11,245 crore. Financials received Rs 9,800 crore and information technology accounted for Rs 7,416 crore. These five sectors combined to absorb Rs 60,810 crore in buying activity. The data indicates a clear preference for companies facing customers within India rather than those affected by higher capital requirements or regulatory challenges abroad. Sentiment supports this shift following a Q1 fiscal year 2027 GDP growth rate of 7.8%, strong quarterly earnings results, and a stabilizing rupee. Consumer services alone secured Rs 10,201 crore in July, with an additional Rs 8,413 crore recorded in August.
