$34.4 billion AI infrastructure masterplan targets 1.5 gigawatts by 2033 in Philippines

The Philippines launched its AI+ Infrastructure Masterplan on September 8, establishing a target to expand artificial intelligence-ready data center capacity from roughly 50 megawatts to 1.5 gigawatts by 2033. The plan sets an interim goal of deploying approximately 400 megawatts by 2030. Information and Communications Technology Secretary Henry Aguda confirmed two US-headquartered hyperscaler companies are assessing potential locations in the Bataan-Clark and Batangas-Aurora corridors. Each firm is evaluating roughly 200 megawatts of capacity over a five-year period. Officials noted these figures represent projects under due diligence rather than committed investments. The program aims to combine public spending with significant private capital in computing, power, water, and workforce development. Aguda stated the corridor-based approach should reduce the six-to-nine-month site-selection timeline typically required by hyperscalers.
