The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) imposed a Rs 2 lakh penalty on Emami Realty for failing to obtain prior audit committee approval for a related-party loan. The regulator noted the company granted an additional Rs 25 lakh loan to Lohitka on August 8, 2016, after the committee approved it only three days later on August 11. Sebi rejected arguments that this was a continuation of a 2015 arrangement or fell under a de minimis exemption. In a separate move, Sebi settled proceedings against 91 commodity brokers related to the National Spot Exchange Ltd platform. The settlement period ran from August 25, 2025, to February 25, 2026. Most brokers agreed to pay approximately Rs 6 lakh, while specific entities like Emkay Commotrade paid Rs 30.84 lakh and Pace Commodity Brokers paid Rs 36.05 lakh. Several firms accepted a six-month ban on proprietary trading and taking new commodity clients, whereas others faced no debarment conditions.
