Xero Apologizes to Accountants Over Automated Analytics Emails Sent Directly to Businesses
UK managing director Kate Hayward admitted Xero sent automated analytics emails directly to business users, bypassing accountants who are used to analyzing such data for their clients.
Xero apologized to accountants for sending automated analytics emails directly to its business customers. UK managing director Kate Hayward announced in a Wednesday blog post that the company's system delivered these reports automatically instead of waiting for professionals to analyze them first. 'This email was not intended to bypass the role of the advisor,' Hayward stated. She added that many accountants and bookkeepers rely on parsing this data to maintain specific workflows and relationships with their clients. Xero acknowledged the apology could have disrupted these practices and apologized for any resulting trouble. This admission followed a promotional social media post weeks ago. British entrepreneur Amelia Sordell claimed to have saved hundreds of dollars by using an AI tool named Claude to process Xero data. The social media campaign suggested business users could save on accounting fees by linking their software directly to AI tools rather than relying on human advisors.
