Microsoft announced Thursday that it will enforce monthly time limits on Xbox cloud gaming services beginning in November. This change ends years of unlimited access as the company addresses rising operational costs driven by increased demand for computing power. Players can pay an additional fee to exceed these caps. Executives stated the model shift aims to balance usage with sustainability while ensuring service reliability, though they acknowledged it may raise costs for some users. Specific tiered limits apply: Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, paying $22.99 monthly, will receive 15 hours of cloud gaming. Game Pass Premium account holders, on a $14.99 plan, get 10 hours. Game Pass Essential users, who pay $9.99, received specific time limits only for certain titles upon launch. Those with high-end Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions currently have access to 15 hours of cloud gaming.
