New IBGE data reveals monthly earnings for app-based automobile drivers and details their weekly working hours compared to traditional drivers.
Brazilian automobile drivers working through digital platforms earned an average of R$2,873 (US$143.00) in monthly income during 2025, according to IBGE data from the PNAD Contínua survey. Their hourly rate totaled R$14.40, which is lower than the R$16.00 average for drivers operating outside platforms. App-based workers logged an average of 45.9 hours per week against 40.4 hours for non-platform drivers. Approximately two million people across Brazil work in the digital services sector, including 1.2 million passengers and 585 thousand food or product delivery workers. The income figures gained relevance as Banco da Caixa accepts platform earnings for mortgage loan eligibility assessments. While thousands of drivers and delivery personnel worked city streets during the September 7 holiday period, these statistics specifically quantify their earnings capacity.
