Iran suspended a 10 percent freight charge applied to foreign vessels carrying imported or exported oil, gas, and liquid petroleum products. The semi-official Fars news agency reported the decision on Thursday. The presidential legal deputy ordered the collection of this fee to stop until the government approves and publishes a list of products subject to the levy. Officials stated that previous charges increased transportation costs for these goods. The suspension aims to reduce those expenses and encourage foreign fleets to carry cargo to or from Iran. This move comes while a US naval blockade has sharply disrupted the country's seaborne oil exports.
