$3.46 billion Samsung E&A awarded for SABIC AN ammonia-urea complex in Saudi Arabia
Samsung E&A Co., Ltd. won a $3.46 billion contract to build an industrial facility with ammonia and urea production plants in Saudi Arabia, scheduled to launch by 2030.
SABIC Agri-Nutrients Co. awarded Samsung E&A Co., Ltd. a $3.46 billion engineering, procurement, and construction contract for a new industrial complex in Saudi Arabia. The project involves constructing an ammonia plant with an annual capacity of 1.2 million tonnes and two urea plants with a combined annual capacity of 2.6 million tonnes. This expansion will increase SABIC AN's total urea production capacity from 4.8 million to 7.4 million tonnes per year, representing a 54 percent rise. Production is expected to start in the fourth quarter of 2030. Fahad Al-Battar, CEO of SABIC AN, stated the facility aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 and supports global food security. The project is described as a key pillar of SABIC AN's 2040 growth strategy.
