Enugu State Revenue rises to N406.7 billion in 2025

Internal generated revenue surged from N37 billion in 2023 to N406.7 billion in 2025 due to expanded payment gateways and centralized collection reforms.

Emmanuel Nnamani, chairman of the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service (ESIRS), reported that internally generated revenue climbed to N406.7 billion in 2025. This figure represents a jump from N37 billion recorded in 2023 and N180.5 billion in 2024. Nnamani stated the growth resulted from previous administration policies involving disruptive innovation, autonomy for the revenue service, technology deployment, and reforms that established a centralized collection system. He noted the agency expanded its payment platform from one gateway to seven options, including Interswitch, UPS, and Flutterwave, enabling payments via banks, transfers, and over 300 point-of-sale terminals. Nnamani urged taxpayers and business owners to familiarize themselves with tax law provisions to prevent unnecessary disputes between citizens and the agency.
