Anthropic introduces Fable 5.1 at $10 per million input tokens and slashes cache read costs by 75 percent

Anthropic launched the broadly accessible Fable 5.1 model with reduced pricing for caching, while restricting the more powerful Mythos 5.1 to vetted partners.

Anthropic has made the Claude Fable 5.1 model generally available to Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise users through platforms including Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. The company separated access levels based on risk profiles, offering tighter protections for commercial use with Fable 5.1 while limiting the more capable Mythos 5.1 to approved organizations in high-risk sectors like cybersecurity and biology. Both models share the same underlying system but differ in usage restrictions. Pricing for Fable 5.1 remains unchanged from the previous version at $10 per million input tokens and $50 per million output tokens. A significant adjustment covers cached input, which now costs $0.25 per million tokens compared to the prior rate of $1 per million. Anthropic estimates this reduction will lower effective costs for standard workloads by approximately 25 percent. The company projects cost savings could reach roughly 45 percent for highly agentic tasks that frequently reuse stored context such as software repositories and lengthy conversation histories.
