BRICS leaders issued a joint declaration expressing deep concern over escalating tensions in the Middle East during an 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi on Saturday. The document urged all parties to avoid actions that could worsen the situation and reaffirmed support for resolving disputes through dialogue. Members including Iran, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates were among those who signed the agreement, ending a period of deadlock over foreign minister statements in May. The declaration described the conflict as occurring in West Asia and advocated a multilateral approach considering national viewpoints. Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke at the summit, stating that the situation in the region continues to evolve in a complex manner and causing severe losses to people. He called on relevant parties to pursue a political solution and promote a permanent, comprehensive ceasefire. Xi noted the Palestinian issue remains central and emphasized implementing the two-state solution with Israel.
