Brazil ETF Assets More Than Doubled in 18 Months as XP Asset Plans Giant Expansion

ETF assets in Brazil grew more than double their value over the last 18 months while XP Asset Management confirms a major strategy for further growth.

ETF assets in Brazil surpassed previous record levels, growing more than double their total size in just 18 months. Despite this expansion, these funds still hold a small share of the Brazilian financial industry compared to developed markets. Leandro Bousquet, CEO of XP Asset Management, stated that ETFs face enormous growth potential in the country. He explained that the sector's rise reflects a broader shift where investors increasingly diversify their portfolios and allocate more capital to international markets. Bousquet described the investment strategy by XP Asset regarding ETFs as "giant." During a visit to the company headquarters in São Paulo, he discussed this trajectory alongside Clara Sodré, an analyst at XP. The conversation highlighted the role of ETFs as essential tools for retail investors seeking global exposure. Beyond ETFs, XP Asset noted it pioneered access to alternative markets including private equity and infrastructure for Brazilian retail clients.
