On Tuesday, the United States intensified its trade conflict with Canada through strict import bans. Washington prohibited the entry of certain Canadian dairy items, including cultured milk serum, alongside motorcycles, motorized bicycles, and various alcoholic beverages such as spirits and wine. The US Treasury noted these specific restrictions apply to products like sugar syrups. These measures became effective on September 29.
In response, Canada implemented retaliatory tariffs targeting a total value of roughly $20 billion in American goods. President Donald Trump also expanded the scope of the commercial confrontation. He ordered the removal of Canadian products from long-term and large-scale American government contracts. This action broadens the trade war between the two nations. Associated Press reported that relations between these traditional allies are deteriorating rapidly. The current disputes involve distinct lists of restricted items on both sides, with no overlap in the specific goods cited for each ban.
