TSMC August Revenue Jumps 53% to Record $514.8 Billion New Taiwan Dollars
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. reported record August revenue of $514.8 billion New Taiwan dollars, a 53.3% increase from the previous year, driven by strong demand for AI chips.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. announced record monthly revenue for August, posting $514.8 billion New Taiwan dollars, which represents a 53.3% year-over-year increase and a 10.1% rise from July figures. The company stated that demand for chips used in artificial intelligence applications remained strong throughout the month. TSMC shares closed 0.61% lower on Thursday prior to releasing the data. Monthly revenue has increased for four consecutive months following statements made during the second-quarter earnings call in July, where the firm described AI-related demand as extremely robust. The Taiwanese giant reported a profit jump exceeding 77% compared to last year and forecasted third-quarter revenue between $44.6 billion and $45.8 billion. Data released by TrendForce indicated TSMC maintained its global foundry market dominance with a 72.5% share in the second quarter, while Samsung Foundry ranked second with a 5.9% share and China's SMIC followed at 5.4%. Advanced 5-, 4-, and 3-nanometer capacities remained fully booked due to supply constraints for AI and high-performance computing processors.
