Tether chief claims Bitcoin adoption gap is due to generational divide among bankers

Paolo Ardoino states that older financial leaders prefer gold over Bitcoin due to familiarity with its centuries-long history as a reserve asset.

Tether chief executive Paolo Ardoino attributed the cryptocurrency's inability to match gold's global reach to a generational divide. He noted that most senior policymakers, bankers, and institutional investors are over 60 years old and remain more comfortable with gold. Ardoino argued that these older leaders trust instruments whose custody arrangements and historical roles they already understand. He stated Bitcoin does not have the penetration that gold possesses because it is significantly younger. The comparison suggests wider acceptance of Bitcoin as a reserve asset depends partly on generational change, as younger investors are generally more comfortable with digital assets while older leaders favor traditional tools.
