Tensive receives €20 million EIB loan to scale REGENERA breast reconstruction technology

Milan-based MedTech startup Tensive secured a €20 million convertible loan from the European Investment Bank to advance its REGENERA bioresorbable scaffolds. The funding supports R&D and commercialisation following positive pivotal clinical results.

MedTech startup Tensive received a €20 million convertible loan from the European Investment Bank. Milan-based CEO Sanjay Kakkar stated the funds enable the company to transition its REGENERA product, which serves as a breast implant alternative using bioresorbable scaffolds and tissue marking technology, from clinical success to availability for European surgeons. The agreement covers half of Tensive's total €40 million financing plan under the EU InvestEU programme. Kakkar noted this commitment anchors ongoing equity financing efforts. While the market for implants after breast cancer lumpectomy is niche, the deal occurs alongside other significant medical device funding activity reported in 2026.
